Seeing as how we are all getting ready for heading back to school, I wanted to share with you my favorite “school related” things this month. My own kids usually don’t start school until the day after Labor Day. I know many other states start much earlier and to be honest, I wish we were one of them! This year, my kiddos start a few weeks early, so we are in full on “Back to School” mode right now. Hopefully some of these products will be helpful to you as your tiny humans head back!
**Note: while some of these are affiliate links, and I receive a small commission from purchases that helps to run this site, these are all products that we truly use and love. I would not bother to tell you about them each month, if we didn’t.
We have several of these, and all of my kids use them and LOVE them. They are the only bento boxes I have found that are truly leak-proof between compartments. I can give my kids greek yogurt, and it doesn’t get all over their other foods. The Yumbox Panino has seriously transformed scool lunches for my kids. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I often post pictures of what my kids are eating that day. Gone are the days of a sandwich every day. I am able to send so many more foods with my kids since we found these!
Since we are talking about school lunches, this Thermos Funtainer thermos is another winner. All four of my kids have them. I can fill them with a hot (or cold) food in the morning, and they are still hot enough that my kids have to blow on their food by lunch time. My oldest didn’t eat lunch until 5 hours after they left the house last year, and his was still hot! That is just crazy! The kids love having leftover soups, chili, pasta, even oatmeal in their lunches. I love that this thermos gives me so many more choices for foods to send them. This helps in my quest to have them eat whole, clean foods, not the processed junk served at school most days.
This CamelBack eddy water bottle is our go to for school. It clicks shut, and we have not had any issues with them leaking in backpacks like so many other water bottles. These are not too big, and I know that the kids are getting enough water while at school. They come in a huge variety of fun colors, which my kids love. Plus, they are BPA and BPS free, and dishwasher safe which I love.
Jansport backpacks are the ONLY backpacks that I will buy my kids. They are great quality, hold up for multiple years, and the kids love them. Jansport backpacks come in fun prints or solid colors, and a large variety of styles and sizes. The best part, is that they also have a lifetime warranty! We had one that the zipper kept getting stuck on after very little use. I just had to fill out an online form, pay for shipping to them, and they sent us a new backpack. Any company that stands behind their product like that is a winner in my book. Really, how cute is this print that my now 5th grader picked out for this year? Did I mention she is getting a new backpack after being able to use her previous one since Kindergarten? That’s 5 years of daily use, including carrying snow pants and shoes to school 1/2 of the year. Worth every penny!
A pencil pouch? I know.. they’re all the same. Not the case though! This Mead Five Star pencil pouch is the bomb. Seriously. My kids all have them for school, and in the binders we use for road trips. They are not only expandable, but they have three compartments to keep things organized in their school desk. Markers, and colored pencils in one, regular pencils in another, and eraser and scissors in the last. They always know where to find everything, and don’t have to ask to borrow from a friend. I have not seen these sold in stores in forever, but thankfully you can still get them online.
Speaking of pencils. Ticonderoga are the ONLY pencils I will buy. These sharpen great, have a nice smooth lead, and don’t break like the cheaper brands. Amazon usually has the best deal on them. I get this huge 96 count set at the beginning of the year, and they last till the end of the school year. With four kids of my own, and 8-10 daycare kids using them at home, that is insane to not have to buy more! These pencils really are the best out there.
What are your go-to products for school? I’m always on the lookout for ideas to simplify our school routine!
